This book explores and explains the different dimensions of development and deprivation in India. The title of this work reflects the author`s conceptions of development which, according to him, is multidimensional in nature. It is not possible to understand clearly all the dimensions of development without any reference to social and economic deprivation. The issues covered in this volume are diverse and multidimensional. The approach adopted by the author for the critical analysis of the issues on hand has gender dimension, regional dimension and human development dimension. The author has succeeded in capturing the development dynamics and their diverse dimensions.
